day 13 – unshakable love
As Pete would do each of these artworks they would be spread all over our lounge room. Each of us would choose favourites only to have them replaced with new favourites as another was created. There are several that I particularly love, but the following is my all time favourite.
We had an ever growing list of verses on God’s love to pull ideas for the art from and when Pete suggested this image for Isaiah 54:10 I knew I was going to love it. Look how beautiful the tree is? Stunning. But it’s only like that above the ground, because the roots are so much bigger and run so much deeper than we would imagine.
Though the mountains be shaken
and the hills be removed,
yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken
nor my covenant of peace be removed,”
says the Lord, who has compassion on you. Isaiah 54:10
Pete had seen the giant Douglas Fir trees uprooted like matchsticks at Mount St Helens. For God’s love not to be shaken even though the mountains are and the hills are removed, that love must run incredibly deep.
We can have so much confidence when we know that His enormous love for us isn’t going anywhere. It’s the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Nothing can change that.
God, thank You for Your unshakable love. May we rest in peace and security knowing that it runs deep and cannot be removed. Wow, You really will love us forever.
