day 16 – creative love
Have you read Gary Chapman’s Five Love Languages? The book talks about five ways, languages, that we use to give and receive love. It’s a powerful read. One of those five love languages is gift-giving.
The greatest gift God gives us is definitely our salvation, the free pass into relationship with Him. But it’s not the only gift He gives us in love.
“In the beginning, God created…”, it’s the first thing we’re told about God. He creates. And doesn’t He do a phenomenal job? All things were created through Him and for Him as Colossians 1:16 tells us, but the fact that He placed us here on this earth as part of His creation is an absolute gift to us.
We live near one of the most beautiful national parks in the world and I am constantly amazed by all God has created – the plants, the flowers both miniscule or giant-sized, the lizard that doesn’t take his eyes off me until I go past. Or we drive down the coast and see the stunning cliffs and beaches He has made – the rocks, the sand grains, the crabs. Or I come home only to have a rosella sit in our Christmas bush and watch me stretch. Or I lie anywhere watching the sky, the clouds and the heavens. Or I look at the little people in our home who have every part of them formed intricately and they just keep on growing.
God’s creative love gift is all around us, we only have to look.
Lord, thank You for all You have made and thank You for giving us Your creation. May our eyes be open to this ever giving gift of Your creative love.
