God's love

day 23 – embedded love

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.  If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.  John 15:9-10

Have you ever realised that we have a choice to remain in Christ’s love?  Christ tells us that just as the Father has loved Him, He has loved us.  Then He asks us to remain in His love.

So, how do we do that?

Fortunately, He gives us instructions.  Christ says that He kept the Father’s commands and remained in His love, so we should keep Christ’s commands and remain in His love.  This is not a legalistic, law based doctrine.  However, if we truly love God everything within us will want to obey His requests.  And as we demonstrate this obedience, we will remain in the love He has for us.

I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.  John 15:11

The really cool thing about this is that Jesus says this so His complete joy may be in us.  I don’t know about you, but I really want to have His joy.

Now, what is that command He mentions in v9?  What is He asking us to do?

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.  John 15:12

Let’s bring on the joy.  🙂 Christ is embedded in the Father’s Love and we are embedded in Christ’s love, let’s share that by loving each other just He was loved by the Father and we, in turn, by Christ.

Lord, I give you thanks for Your embedded love.  Please show me every day, in practical ways, how to truly love those around me.
